Jack Millar was raised in Mesachie Lake, BC, where his father worked at the Hillcrest Lumber Company. After a long career as a professor of zoology at Western University in London, Ontario, he turned his attention to researching his childhood community. This included reading as many books on the subject as he could find and recording his memories. He also corresponded with former residents of the lumber town who generously shared their own recollections. This book gathers these stories to present an archival tapestry of his beloved Hillcrest community.
